Apple has announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Malaysia, bringing contactless payments directly to businesses without the need for additional hardware.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, merchants can accept in-person payments using just their iPhone. Customers can pay by holding a contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or another digital wallet near the device, with transactions securely handled using NFC technology.

The feature allows businesses to skip traditional card machines, making it easier for small and large merchants alike to take payments on the go.

Apple says ADAPTIS, Fiuu, HitPay, Stripe, and Zoho are among the first platforms in Malaysia to support Tap to Pay on iPhone, enabling businesses across sectors such as retail, food and drink, beauty, and professional services to offer contactless checkout.

Tap to Pay on iPhone first launched in the U.S. in February 2022 and has gradually expanded worldwide, including to the U.K., Australia, Japan, France, Canada, Italy, and more. With Malaysia now added, the feature is available in 43 countries and regions.

Apple also confirmed that Tap to Pay on iPhone will soon be supported at Apple The Exchange TRX store in Malaysia.
