iPhone 18 Pro could feature larger camera bump and thicker lenses, leak suggests

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup could see a noticeable increase in camera size this year, according to new details based on early dummy units.

YouTuber Vadim Yuryev of the Max Tech channel claims that both the camera plateau and individual lenses on the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be thicker than those on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Based on the shared measurements, the overall thickness including the camera lenses is said to increase from 12.92mm on the iPhone 17 Pro Max to 13.77mm on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The camera plateau itself is also expected to grow slightly, from 11.23mm to 11.54mm.

The increase in size is believed to be linked to upgrades in Apple’s camera system, which has consistently been a major focus of the Pro lineup.

While the design is expected to remain broadly similar, a thicker camera bump could suggest larger sensors or improved optics, potentially delivering better low-light performance and enhanced image quality.

As with all early hardware leaks, the final design could still change before Apple officially unveils the iPhone 18 Pro later this year.
