Unreleased iMac leaked by Xcode crash log, likely new Apple Silicon model

Xcode’s Crash Reporter feature has seemingly outed a new, unreleased ARM-based iMac amid rumors of Apple releasing a fully redesigned model featuring an Apple Silicon processor.

First spotted by 9to5Mac, developer Dennis Oberhoff discovered on Tuesday an ARM-based iMac in his crash log for his DaftCloud Mac app, which shows an iMac running macOS 11.2.1 and a 64-bit ARM chip. Apple doesn’t sell an iMac with an Apple Silicon chip for now, so the log points to the crash happening on an internal, unreleased machine.

Rumors claim Apple’s Silicon iMac will be the biggest design refresh to any Apple product this year. The update, which will mark the first major design refresh to the machine since 2012, is said to bring smaller bezels to the iMac and remove the metal “chin area” at the front, giving the all-in-one a similar look like the high-end Pro Display XRD.

Leaker Jon Prosser shared renders last month which he claimed to show what the new iMac would look like, suggesting we could see the machine launch in Silver, Space Gray, Green, Sky Blue, and Rose Gold color options.
