Apple is rumored to be hosting its final special event of the year on Tuesday, November 17th, which is expected to see the launch of Apple’s first wave of ARM Mac models as well as AirTags – the highly rumored item trackers.
Reports of Apple planning a November event have been circling for some time, but prolific leaker Jon Prosser claims Apple will confirm the event on Tuesday, November 10th, with the event itself taking place the following week on the 17th.
Since Apple announced it would begin introducing ARM Macs earlier in the year, numerous reports have speculated which machines will be the first to get the upgrade. Reliable Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple Silicon is coming first to a new 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and a redesigned iMac, whereas others have claimed Apple will bring back the discontinued 12-inch MacBook and make that the first machine with the new processor.
Apple plans to ship the first Mac with Apple silicon by the end of the year and complete the transition in about two years. Apple will continue to support and release new versions of macOS for Intel-based Macs for years to come, and has claimed it still has new Intel-based Macs in development.
AirTags are expected to attach to valuables, such as wallets, backpacks, keys, and more, allowing users to track their belongings in the Find My app on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The trackers are said to be “just a tad larger than a bottle cap,” with Apple set to offer a “keychain that has a little leather pouch on it that you can just slip your AirTag into,” Prosser has previously suggested.
