‘iPhone 13’ to feature smaller notch, claims leaker

Apple could reduce the size of the TrueDepth camera system on the 2021 “iPhone 13,” according to leaker “Ice Universe” (via MacRumors).

In a tweet shared today, the leaker showed a drawing comparing the size of the front-facing TrueDepth camera system expected to be on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12, which is said to be the same size as the “notch” on all previous Face ID iPhone models, and the “notch” on the “iPhone 13,” which has a slightly smaller width and height.

We suggest taking this report with a pitch of salt, but “Ice Universe” isn’t the first to suggest Apple will shrink the front-facing TrueDepth camera system on future devices. Models supposedly based on Apple’s 2021 “iPhone 13” prototypes leaked earlier this year, featuring an all-screen design with a USB-C port.

We don’t know much about next year’s new iPhones at this early stage, with the exception of rumors which suggest the device may have a Touch ID power button like the iPad Air 4, in addition to Face ID.
