iPhone 12 enters mass production, reportedly without 120Hz ProMotion display

Apple is said to have started mass production of the iPhone 12, reportedly without 120Hz ProMotion Displays.

Leaker Jon Prosser claimed on Friday that ahead of next month’s launch, mass production of this year’s new iPhone models has started at factories across China, claiming that the new 120Hz ProMotion Displays rumored to have been prototyped for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max haven’t ended up being used on the final devices which will ship to customers this fall.

It was reported last week that the iPhone 12 would be entering mass production soon, with the report claiming production is already underway for AirTags following earlier insights which claimed Apple was aiming to produce tens of millions of tracking units in the second or third quarter of this year.

YouTuber EverythingApplePro shared this week what he claims to be a video showing the chassis of the upcoming 6.1-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro, offering a glimpse at the device’s shell and rear three-lens camera setup with LiDAR Scanner.

The main differentiators between the current-generation iPhone 11 lineup and the new 2020 iPhone 12 models is expected to be 5G across the board, new screen sizes, OLED displays on all models and a new iPhone 4-like design.

Apple was rumored to be announcing its new iPhone models next week at its “Time Flies” media event, although a follow-up reports suggested the event will only be for new Apple Watch and iPad models.
