Apple begins shipping Developer Transition Kits
Developers are beginning to receive their Developer Transition Kits to allow them to test new Mac apps on a modified Mac mini with an A12Z chip and 16GB of RAM with arm-based architecture.
The arrival of the kits follow after Apple announced last Monday that it plans to introduce new Macs starting later this year that transition from Intel chips to custom Apple-designed silicon processors, said to offer improved performance and less power consumption compared to the chips used today.
The DTK is priced at $500 to registered developers and must be retuned to Apple once testing is complete and the first ARM based Macs are released to customers.
