Code in latest iOS 12.2 beta suggests AirPower launch coming soon

Apple’s long-awaited AirPower wireless charging mat could be launching in just a couple of days, based on code changes found within the latest iOS 12.2 beta, released to developers yesterday.

The update feature “significant changes” to the wireless charging code according to 9to5Mac‘s Guilherme Rambo which include “code responsible for identifying that two devices are charging on the same mat,” which could indicate that Apple is planning an AirPower launch soon.

Following the release of an all-new 10.5-inch iPad Air and updated iPad mini on Monday, and updates to the iMac and iMac Pro on Tuesday mixed with rumors Apple may release an updated iPod touch on Wednesday, Apple may be only days away from releasing AirPower after initially unveiling the device in late 2017.

In the iOS 12.2 beta specifically, there are changes to the 3D animations that are displayed on the largest of the charging devices to let you know charging levels.

AirPower will likely launch alongside Apple’s rumored 2nd generation AirPods 2.
