AirPods 2 again rumored to be released on March 29

A new report from rumor site Applesfera has suggested Apple is planning to release a 2nd-generation version of AirPods on March 29th, days after the company is expected to host an event at Apple Park on March 25th.

Based on what the site claims to be a screenshot of “logistics and product stock management software”, Apple is inching closer to bringing the current generation AirPods to the end of their “life cycle”, with AirPods 2 expected to go on sale on Friday, March 29th.

We’ve heard similar reports from other sources claiming Apple will unveil AirPower and an updated version of AirPods in late March alongside possibly introducing a new iPad mini and upgraded entry-level iPad.

So far we don’t know whether the upgraded AirPods rumored to launch in March will be a minor update to the existing generation earbuds with an accompanying upgraded wireless charging case to work with AirPower, or if Apple will completely redesign the AirPods as previously suggested.

It is starting to look increasingly likely new hardware will launch in late March, but it is unknown whether the new products will launch quietly in a press release or take center stage at Apple’s previously rumored services-only media event.
