Apple says iOS 12 is now installed on 83% of all devices released in the last four years

Apple has revealed within an update to its App Store support page for developers that 80 percent of all iOS devices are now running iOS 12, with 83 percent of devices introduced in the last four years running a version of iOS 12.

The statistics shared since the initial release of iOS 12 show people have been upgrading to this particular version of iOS much quicker than with iOS 11. In April 2018, iOS 11 was still only installed on 76 percent of devices, perhaps because of the many bugs that plagued the operating system over its lifetime.

Apple revealed at the beginning of January that iOS 12 had been installed on 78 percent of all devices sold over the last 4 years, showing iOS 12 adoption has grown 5 percent in just a couple of weeks.

The statistics shared by Apple are based on devices that connect to the App Store, and doesn’t include devices that download the latest software but never come online, or devices that aren’t connected to an Apple ID.
