AppleCare+ for Apple Watch Series 4 priced at $79, compared to $49 for Series 3

Apple Watch Series 4 is now available to pre-order following the wearables grand reveal by Apple on Wednesday. Although the in-depth intro to Apple Watch Series 4 showed us all the device’s most sought-after features and cool new capabilities, one thing Apple failed to announce during the event was that AppleCare+ for the Apple Watch Series 4 is now priced at $79, compared to $49 for the previous generation Apple Watch Series 3.

Extending your warranty coverage up to two years from the date of purchase, AppleCare+ also adds coverage for two incidents of accidental damage, each subject to a $69 service fee.

While Apple hasn’t specifically said why AppleCare+ is priced $30 higher for this generation, the decision was likely down to the fact the wearables now feature larger displays and more advanced electrical sensors for Apple Watch’s new ECG functionality, launching later in the year in the United States.

AppleCare+ can be purchased in monthly instalments of $3.99 per month for 24 months, or in full. Apple is also offering AppleCare+ in monthly instalments for the Apple Watch Series 3 for $2.49 per month for 24 months, or in full. – Apple is continuing to charge $99 for AppleCare+ on the Hermès Apple Watch models.
