iPhone Air 2 reportedly enters EVT testing with A20 Pro and dual 48MP cameras

Apple’s second-generation iPhone Air has reportedly entered the EVT stage of development, with a new leak pointing to a 6.55-inch 120Hz OLED display, A20 Pro chip, dual 48-megapixel cameras, a larger battery, and an even thinner 5.3mm design.

Leaker Sunny claims on X that iPhone Air 2 has moved into engineering validation testing, a stage where Apple typically evaluates prototype hardware and design decisions before later validation and mass-production phases. Specifications can still change during development, so the details should not be treated as final.

According to the leak, iPhone Air 2 will use a 6.55-inch 1.5K+ LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, broadly matching previous reports that Apple plans to retain the current model’s screen size while improving other parts of the hardware.

The device is also said to feature Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip and a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system, including a new Ultra Wide camera. The Apple Post has previously reported that Apple is expected to add a second camera to iPhone Air 2, addressing one of the biggest limitations of the first-generation model.

Sunny also claims Apple is testing a larger battery while reducing thickness to around 5.3mm. That would make iPhone Air 2 thinner than the current 5.6mm model, although it differs slightly from an earlier report suggesting a figure closer to 5.2mm. The difference reinforces that dimensions may still be changing while the device remains in prototype testing.

iPhone Air 2 is widely expected to launch in spring 2027 alongside iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. Previous reporting has also linked the device to 12GB of RAM, Apple’s C2 modem, and a smaller Dynamic Island, although none of those details were included in Sunny’s latest post.
