OLED iPad mini 8 expected this week with major redesign and A20 Pro chip

Apple’s next iPad mini is reportedly set to arrive this week with an OLED display, a major redesign and the A20 Pro chip, marking one of the biggest updates to the compact tablet in years.

The new model is expected to move from LCD to OLED for the first time, bringing deeper blacks, stronger contrast and improved brightness. It remains unclear whether the display will also gain 120Hz ProMotion.

The iPad mini is also expected to jump from the current A17 Pro chip to A20 Pro, with reports pointing to 12GB of memory and a significant increase in CPU and graphics performance.

Apple is also said to be working on improved water resistance, using a redesigned enclosure and speaker system intended to reduce openings where water can enter. Earlier reports have also pointed to a relocated FaceTime camera and slimmer bezels.

Pricing could rise significantly. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested the new iPad mini could start closer to $799 in the United States, up from the current $599 starting price, although Apple has not confirmed pricing or specifications.

The Apple Post previously reported that an OLED iPad mini was on track for an October launch. The device is now expected to appear alongside new Macs at Apple’s October 28 “Pro and tell” announcements.
