Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its long-rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro on Wednesday, October 28, with redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models expected to headline the company’s “Pro and tell” launch.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the new MacBook Pro models will feature touch-enabled OLED displays, marking the first time Apple has brought direct touch input to a MacBook screen.
The notebooks are also expected to be lighter than the current models and replace the display notch with a Dynamic Island-style cutout. Despite the major hardware changes, the redesigned machines are expected to use Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than the newer M6 generation.
Apple has invited selected media to an October 28 product experience in Los Angeles, where attendees are expected to get hands-on time with the new Macs after their announcement. The Apple Post has already rounded up everything expected from Apple’s “Pro and tell” event.
If the report is accurate, Wednesday’s launch will represent one of the biggest MacBook Pro redesigns in years and reverse Apple’s long-standing decision to keep touchscreen interaction away from the Mac.
