Hogwarts Legacy lets players explore Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the wider wizarding world, but there is no native Mac version of the game.
For Mac owners who don’t have a Windows gaming PC or console, CrossOver provides another option, allowing compatible Windows games to run within macOS.
Hogwarts Legacy isn’t officially available for macOS, but the Windows version can be run on compatible Macs through CrossOver.
Rather than installing and running an entire copy of Windows, CrossOver translates Windows commands so supported games and applications can operate on macOS.
This also means there’s no need to purchase a separate Windows license.
First, download CrossOver for Mac.
Once installed, use CrossOver to install the Windows version of Steam. Sign into the Steam account containing Hogwarts Legacy and download the game normally from your library.
Hogwarts Legacy is a demanding open-world game, so the Mac you’re using will have a significant effect on performance. Macs with more powerful Apple silicon and greater amounts of unified memory will generally be better suited to the game.
If performance isn’t as smooth as you’d like, reducing the resolution and individual graphics settings can make a significant difference.
Because every Mac configuration is different, trying CrossOver before buying it makes sense.
CodeWeavers provides a fully functional 14-day free trial. If Hogwarts Legacy runs well on your Mac, purchase CrossOver through The Apple Post and use THEAPPLEPOST15 to save 15% on CrossOver+.
