LG’s Apple Home video doorbell has dual cameras for people and packages

Apple’s new Home Collection includes an LG Video Doorbell with two separate cameras designed to capture visitors and packages at the same time.
The front-facing camera records at up to 2.5K resolution, while a second downward-facing camera provides a full-HD view of deliveries left near the door.
Apple says users can switch between the two views in Apple Home, with the doorbell also including a built-in spotlight.
The doorbell works directly with Apple Home
When someone rings the bell, a chime can play through HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini, while notifications appear on Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad.
The doorbell can also work together with LG’s new Smart Deadbolt Lock, allowing users to see who is at the door, speak to them and unlock the door from the same Home app view or by asking Siri.
Like the other new Home Collection cameras, the Video Doorbell supports recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages when used with the required Apple Home setup.
The wired LG Video Doorbell starts at $249.95 in the U.S. and will be available in Essence Graphite and Essence Silver in the U.S., Canada and the UK. Apple has not listed UK pricing in its U.S. announcement.
The doorbell is part of the new Apple Home Collection, with availability beginning in December.
