Apple reportedly working with LG on smart doorbell, lock and cameras

Apple is reportedly working with LG Electronics on a range of smart home accessories designed to integrate with its upcoming home products, including a video doorbell, smart lock, thermostat and security cameras.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has helped develop the products with LG, which will manufacture and sell the accessories under its own brand. The devices are expected to form part of a wider ecosystem around Apple’s new smart home hardware.
The lineup reportedly includes a wired video doorbell, thermostat, smart deadbolt lock, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a floodlight camera. Documents submitted by LG to the Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions reveal details of the devices, although the filings do not name Apple.
Several of the accessories support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter, technologies that would allow them to work across modern smart home ecosystems. The smart lock is also said to include Ultra Wideband support for proximity-based unlocking.
Apple is preparing a major expansion of its home lineup centered around a new smart home hub, alongside updated HomePod mini and Apple TV hardware. The LG accessories are reportedly being designed to integrate closely with those products rather than being sold as Apple-branded hardware.
The partnership would allow Apple to broaden the range of accessories available around its home ecosystem without developing every piece of hardware itself. Apple and LG already have a longstanding relationship, with LG supplying displays for Apple products and previously producing UltraFine monitors marketed for Mac users.
The LG accessories are not expected to be available immediately alongside Apple’s next home hardware, with Bloomberg reporting that the products remain a few months away from launch.
