Elton John to open Apple Music Hall as first eight shows confirmed

Elton John will become the first artist to perform at Apple Music Hall when Apple’s new London venue opens on September 28, with the company also confirming the first eight shows planned for the 600-capacity space.
The opening lineup spans pop, hip-hop, indie, Afrobeats and electronic music, with Baby Keem, Skye Newman, Troye Sivan, Arlo Parks, Burna Boy, Chase & Status and Charli xcx all scheduled to perform after John’s opening night.
Elton John’s show takes place on September 28, followed by Baby Keem on October 2 and Skye Newman on October 7. Troye Sivan will perform on October 13, with Arlo Parks on October 22 and Burna Boy on October 29.
Chase & Status will then perform on November 26 before Charli xcx closes the currently announced run on December 2.
Tickets for the first three shows, featuring Elton John, Baby Keem and Skye Newman, are due to go on sale at 9 a.m. BST on September 28. Further ticket information for the remaining performances will be announced separately.
Apple Music Hall is located inside London’s Battersea Power Station, beneath Apple’s UK headquarters. Apple announced the purpose-built venue earlier this week as a new home for intimate performances, recording sessions and global broadcasts.
The venue holds just 600 people but includes production technology more commonly associated with much larger shows. It features a reconfigurable 38-foot-wide stage, a 48-speaker spatial sound system and infrastructure for more than 16 broadcast cameras.
Two dedicated recording and mixing studios allow performances to be captured as multitrack recordings and mixed in Spatial Audio, while a purpose-built broadcast control room supports multicamera productions alongside iPhone video capture.
Apple says performances from Apple Music Hall will also be livestreamed globally, allowing Apple Music listeners outside London to watch the one-off shows.
The venue marks Apple’s return to hosting intimate live music in London following the iTunes Festival and its successor, the Apple Music Festival, which previously brought major artists to smaller venues in the capital.
Elton John was among the artists to perform during Apple’s earlier live music era, making his appearance as the first Apple Music Hall performer a link between the company’s previous concerts and its new permanent venue.
