Apple expands Tap to Pay on iPhone to eight more Latin American countries

Apple has expanded Tap to Pay on iPhone to eight additional countries across Latin America, allowing more businesses to accept contactless payments using an iPhone without a separate card terminal.
The feature is now available in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Peru. The expansion brings support through a range of payment platforms, with availability varying between markets.
In Argentina, Tap to Pay on iPhone is available through Mercado Pago. Colombia has support through SumUp and Symbiotic, while Costa Rica supports Geopagos, Symbiotic and Visa Acceptance Solutions. Azul and Visa Acceptance Solutions are supported in the Dominican Republic.
Geopagos and Symbiotic provide support in Guatemala, Honduras and Panama, while SumUp supports the feature in Peru.
Tap to Pay on iPhone lets businesses accept contactless debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets directly on a compatible iPhone. Customers complete a transaction by holding their card, iPhone, Apple Watch or other supported contactless device near the merchant’s iPhone.
The system uses NFC and does not require businesses to purchase additional payment hardware. Apple says payment data is protected using the same technology designed to keep Apple Pay transactions private and secure.
Tap to Pay on iPhone works on iPhone XS and newer running the latest version of iOS. Apple works with payment platforms and app developers to integrate the feature into supported iOS payment apps.
Apple first introduced Tap to Pay on iPhone in the United States in 2022 and has continued expanding the service internationally as more payment providers add support.
