The release of iOS 27 gives the iPhone 11 another major software update, extending support for a device Apple first launched seven years ago in September 2019.
Apple lists the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max among the devices compatible with iOS 27, alongside the second-generation iPhone SE and newer models.
That means an iPhone 11 bought at launch has now been eligible for iOS 13, iOS 14, iOS 15, iOS 16, iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 26 and iOS 27, spanning a major change in Apple’s software naming along the way.
Compatibility does not mean the iPhone 11 receives everything included in iOS 27. The biggest omission is Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, which require significantly newer hardware. Owners still receive the broader system improvements and compatible features included in the release.
Apple says iOS 27 includes performance work at the core of the operating system, alongside Liquid Glass refinements, improved connectivity transitions, Mail search improvements, accessibility additions and other changes that extend beyond Apple Intelligence.
The continued support makes the iPhone 11 an increasingly notable example of Apple’s long software lifespan. While newer iPhones gain the most headline features, users who have held onto the 2019 model are still receiving Apple’s current operating system seven years after it arrived.

iOS 27 is available as a free update through Settings > General > Software Update.
