Apple has released iOS 27, with the major software update available for iPhone 11 and newer as a free download.
The compatibility list means Apple is maintaining support for the same broad range of recent iPhones while introducing major new features including Siri AI, expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, Liquid Glass refinements and updates across its built-in apps.
Apple confirmed the iOS 27 release date following its September event, with the update arriving alongside new versions of the company’s other operating systems.
Which iPhones support iOS 27?
iOS 27 is compatible with iPhone 11 and later models, including subsequent standard, Pro, Pro Max, mini, Plus and supported iPhone SE generations released within Apple’s compatibility window.
The continued inclusion of iPhone 11 is particularly notable, extending the device to another major iOS generation years after its original release.
Newer iPhone models, including Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro lineup, also support iOS 27, with new devices shipping with the latest software.
Not every iOS 27 feature works on every compatible iPhone
Being able to install iOS 27 does not mean every new feature will be available. Siri AI and the latest Apple Intelligence capabilities have separate hardware requirements.
Apple says those features require iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 models or later. As a result, an iPhone 11 through iPhone 14 can receive iOS 27 while missing the new Siri AI experience.
Siri AI availability also depends on language and region. The new Siri is unavailable on iPhone and iPad in the European Union at launch, although the rest of iOS 27 remains available there.
Users can check for iOS 27 by opening Settings, selecting General and choosing Software Update. Before installing, it is sensible to make a current backup and ensure the iPhone has sufficient free storage.
The amount of storage required can vary, while users who rely heavily on their iPhone may also want to consider whether to install immediately or wait for early reports.
