iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders open tomorrow, but buyers hoping to secure a particular color, storage capacity or launch-day delivery slot can do much of the work before Apple’s store gets busy.
Apple allows customers to configure the iPhone they want in advance, including the model, finish, storage capacity, trade-in and payment method. The saved configuration can then be used when ordering begins, removing several decisions from the checkout process.
That could matter this year. iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders open at 5 a.m. Pacific and 8 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, with the first deliveries scheduled for September 18. The Apple Post previously detailed the unusual Saturday pre-order schedule.
Choose your iPhone before pre-orders begin
The biggest advantage of preparing early is being able to decide on the expensive parts without a countdown hanging over you. Buyers can choose between iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, select a color and settle on 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage before ordering starts.
Payment and trade-in details are worth checking too. An expired card, incorrect billing address or financing issue can slow checkout considerably more than changing a color at the last moment.
Apple’s online store may become unavailable ahead of pre-orders as the company prepares for the launch. Once that happens, there is little more buyers can do until ordering begins.
Launch-day delivery can disappear quickly
There is no guarantee that any particular iPhone 18 Pro configuration will become difficult to find, but popular iPhone configurations have historically seen delivery estimates move beyond launch day after ordering begins.
Preparing a configuration does not reserve stock. It simply means fewer steps remain once the store opens, which can be useful if a specific model is important to you.
Anyone still undecided can use the time before Saturday to settle the two choices most likely to cause hesitation. The Apple Post has already looked at which iPhone 18 Pro color makes the most sense and which storage capacity to choose.
Once those decisions and payment details are saved, the only important job left is being ready when pre-orders open.
As reported by AppleInsider, Apple is already allowing customers to work through the configuration process and save their pre-order information before Saturday.
