Apple launches AppleCare One Family to cover every eligible device in a household

Apple has expanded AppleCare One in the United States with a new family option designed to protect the devices used across an entire Family Sharing group under a single monthly subscription.

The new AppleCare One Family plan costs $49.99 per month and extends AppleCare coverage across eligible devices belonging to as many as six people in an Apple Family Sharing group, including the person who subscribes to the plan.

The expansion was revealed alongside Apple’s latest product announcements on Wednesday, with Apple confirming the new option in the details accompanying its iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo launches.

Unlike the standard AppleCare One plan, which is primarily designed to bundle coverage for an individual’s devices, AppleCare One Family is intended to cover a household’s collection of Apple products for one fixed monthly price.

As reported by MacRumors, the new plan brings AppleCare One coverage to a user’s Family Sharing group rather than limiting the subscription to devices associated with one person.

How much does AppleCare One Family cost?

AppleCare One Family is priced at $49.99 per month in the United States. The plan can cover eligible devices used by up to six people who are part of the same Family Sharing group.

Apple says the fixed monthly price remains the same as eligible devices are added, making the plan potentially attractive to households with several iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, Macs and other supported Apple products.

What does AppleCare One Family cover?

The family subscription includes AppleCare+ benefits across covered products, including service and support for accidental damage and battery replacement. Theft and loss protection is also included for eligible iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch models.

AppleCare One Family provides a total of six theft or loss claims each year across the family plan.

Eligible existing products can also be brought into the plan. Apple says most devices less than four years old can be added as long as they are in good working condition, extending protection beyond the purchase window traditionally associated with adding AppleCare+ to a device.

Does AppleCare One Family automatically cover new Apple devices?

One of the more convenient parts of the new plan is how it handles future purchases. Apple says new eligible devices belonging to members of the Family Sharing group can be automatically added to AppleCare One Family, without increasing the fixed monthly subscription price.

That could make the family plan considerably simpler for households that regularly replace or add Apple products, rather than maintaining separate AppleCare+ subscriptions for each device.

How is AppleCare One Family different from AppleCare One?

Apple introduced AppleCare One as a way to combine protection for multiple Apple products under one subscription. The standard U.S. plan costs $19.99 per month for three devices, with additional products available for an extra monthly charge.

AppleCare One Family takes the idea further by extending protection across the devices belonging to an entire Family Sharing group. Instead of paying according to the number of devices beyond the initial allowance, the Family plan uses a fixed $49.99 monthly price.

The expansion arrives only months after Apple broadened AppleCare One internationally. Apple launched AppleCare One in the UK earlier this year, where the standard service starts at £16.99 per month for three products, with additional devices costing £4.99 per month each.

Is AppleCare One Family available in the UK?

For now, Apple is specifically advertising AppleCare One Family in the United States. Apple has not announced the Family tier for the UK, despite the standard AppleCare One service being available to UK customers.

Apple’s UK AppleCare One plan therefore remains the existing multi-device offering rather than the new household-wide Family subscription announced in the U.S.
