macOS 27 Golden Gate will be released on Monday, September 14, Apple says

Apple has announced that macOS 27 Golden Gate will be released on Monday, September 14, confirming the launch date for the next major software update coming to Mac.

The update, first unveiled during WWDC26 in June, will be available as a free software update for compatible Macs.

The Apple Post covered the announcement of macOS 27 Golden Gate, including Siri AI, new Apple Intelligence features, design refinements, parental control improvements, and performance upgrades.

Siri AI is one of the biggest changes coming to the Mac. Apple’s next-generation assistant can hold natural conversations, understand personal context, search for information, and perform actions across apps.

Apple is also bringing Visual Intelligence to Mac, allowing users to capture content from an image, PDF, webpage, or document and ask Siri questions about what appears on screen.

Safari gains automatic tab organization and the ability to monitor webpages for changes such as price drops and product restocks, while Passwords can automatically update weak or compromised passwords on supported websites.

Apple has published further details about Siri AI and its next generation of Apple Intelligence, which will be available across several of the company’s platforms.

Photos gains Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an improved Clean Up tool, while Image Playground receives support for more advanced image creation and editing.

The Shortcuts app also gains Describe a Shortcut, allowing Mac users to explain what they want to automate using natural language before Apple Intelligence creates the shortcut.

macOS 27 also includes further refinements to Apple’s Liquid Glass design, including changes to contrast, readability, toolbars, window shapes, and menu bar icons.

macOS 27 Golden Gate will be available to download on Monday, September 14 for compatible Macs.

Users will be able to install the update through System Settings > General > Software Update once it becomes available.
