Next iPad Pro could gain M6 chip and vapor chamber cooling

Apple’s next iPad Pro could pair the company’s upcoming M6 chip with a new vapor chamber cooling system, potentially giving the tablet considerably more room to sustain performance during demanding workloads.
The new model is reportedly among Apple’s planned hardware launches for 2027, as reported by Bloomberg.
The M6 chip would continue Apple’s push to give the iPad Pro Mac-class performance, but the addition of vapor chamber cooling could prove just as significant. The technology spreads heat across a larger internal area, helping high-performance processors operate for longer before temperatures force performance to be reduced.
For the iPad Pro, that could be particularly useful during sustained tasks such as video editing, 3D work, gaming and other processor-heavy workflows. Apple’s extremely thin tablet design leaves relatively little room for conventional cooling, making more efficient thermal management increasingly important as its chips become more powerful.
The upgrade would follow Apple’s continued expansion of M6 hardware across its product lineup, with the chip expected to appear in several Macs over the coming months.
Apple is not currently expected to introduce another iPad Pro before 2027, meaning customers waiting for the next performance-focused refresh could see a more substantial internal upgrade rather than another rapid annual revision.
The reported cooling change would also underline Apple’s efforts to make the iPad Pro increasingly capable of handling professional workloads for longer periods, rather than relying solely on short bursts of peak chip performance.
Exact launch timing remains unclear, but the next-generation iPad Pro is currently expected sometime in 2027.
