Sock Club uses Mac, iPhone and iPad to produce millions of custom socks

Texas-based Sock Club has built Apple devices into its design, manufacturing and sales workflows as the company has grown from a subscription business into a large custom sock operation.

Founded by former roommates Noah Lee and Dane Jensen, Sock Club says it has produced more than 15 million pairs of socks for consumers and major brands while continuing to manufacture responsibly in the United States.

According to Apple, designers use Mac with apps including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create custom patterns, while sales and design teams use collaboration platforms such as Slack and Front.

In the company’s North Carolina mills, knitting teams use iPhone and iPad to scan QR codes and load order information into knitting machines, replacing more manual data entry.

That production data can then be accessed by the sales team in Texas, where iPad is used with CRM software including HubSpot to prepare customer information, create shipping labels and share product photos.

Sock Club says the connected workflow has become increasingly important as order volumes grow, allowing creative, production and sales teams in different locations to work from the same information.

The company also donates 100,000 pairs of socks each year to people in need, while continuing to expand its custom manufacturing business.
