Australian electric vehicle conversion company Jaunt uses iPad, Mac and iPhone throughout its design and manufacturing process, from scanning classic vehicles to creating parts for production.
Based in Victoria, Jaunt converts four-wheel drives and classic cars to electric power, combining traditional workshop craftsmanship with modern digital design tools.
According to Apple, the company uses iPhone, iPad Pro and Apple Pencil during the early stages of a conversion to scan vehicles, build mood boards and create 3D models. Those designs can then be transferred to Mac for further engineering work.
Engineers also use MacBook Pro to design custom components, with finished files either sent to 3D printers or used as references for hand-built parts. Numbers and OmniGraffle are used for tasks including electrical wiring plans, while iPhone is used to document each stage of a project.
Jaunt says the setup has also helped it reduce paper-based workflows and keep more design and manufacturing work in-house rather than sourcing bespoke components from overseas.
The company sees Apple’s combination of portable devices, cloud services and desktop-class hardware as central to its effort to build electric conversions efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on design and sustainability.
