iPhone 18 Pro could bring back Black as Apple reportedly drops Silver

Apple could bring back a Black finish with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max next week, with a new leak claiming the company may drop Silver entirely from this year’s lineup.
According to Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro has now entered full-scale mass production, with Apple reportedly preparing three finishes: Dark Cherry, Sky Blue, and Black.
The claim represents a significant change from earlier reports about Apple’s planned iPhone 18 Pro colors, which suggested the company was developing Light Blue, Dark Cherry, Dark Gray, and Silver options.
Fixed Focus Digital now claims Silver is unlikely to make the final lineup, saying there has been no evidence of the finish appearing within the Chinese supply chain.
If accurate, Apple would replace every color currently offered with the iPhone 17 Pro rather than carrying one of its existing finishes over to the next generation.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is Black.
The Apple Post reported earlier this year that Apple was believed to have removed a Black option from its plans for the iPhone 18 Pro. That report came from Weibo leaker Instant Digital, who claimed the finish had been considered before ultimately being cut.
The latest information suggests Apple may have reversed course as the iPhone 18 Pro moved closer to production, although conflicting reports mean the final lineup remains uncertain until Apple makes its official announcement.
Dark Cherry has remained the most consistent color throughout months of rumors.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman was among the first to report that Apple was developing a deep red finish for its next Pro iPhones. Subsequent reports have referred to the color as Dark Cherry or Burgundy, with one leak describing the finish as a mixture of burgundy, coffee, and deep purple.
Dark Cherry is expected to replace Cosmic Orange as the standout color Apple uses to promote its latest Pro models.
The rumored Sky Blue finish appears to correspond with the Light Blue color previously reported, while Black could provide a more traditional option for customers after Apple moved away from the finish with the iPhone 17 Pro.
Earlier dummy models had also shown the iPhone 18 Pro in Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Black, and Silver, while separate images reportedly showing SIM trays pointed toward Dark Cherry, Light Blue, and Dark Gray.
Concept images created by The Apple Post previously imagined the device in the then-rumored Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver finishes.
Beyond its new colors, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to introduce several hardware upgrades, including a smaller Dynamic Island, the new A20 Pro chip, Apple’s next-generation C2 modem, and improvements to the rear camera system.
A full roundup of the changes expected with the iPhone 18 Pro includes reports of a variable-aperture Main camera, upgraded connectivity, and changes to the front-facing display hardware.
Apple has already confirmed that its next special event will take place on Wednesday, September 9, where the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone, rumored to be called iPhone Ultra.
