Siri AI will not be available in the European Union at launch

Apple has announced that Siri AI will not be available on iPhone and iPad in the European Union when iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 launch later this year.

The company says the delay is due to requirements under the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). According to Apple, regulators rejected several proposals that would have allowed Siri AI to launch while maintaining the company’s privacy and security protections.

Apple says EU users will miss out on several headline Siri AI features at launch, including the new Siri app, expanded Visual Intelligence capabilities, writing tools, Siri mode in Camera, and other AI-powered experiences announced at WWDC26.

However, the delay only affects the 27 member states of the European Union. The United Kingdom is not part of the EU and is therefore not affected by the restriction. UK users will be able to access Siri AI when it launches later this year, provided they have a compatible device.

Apple says Siri AI will still be available in the EU on macOS 27, visionOS 27, and watchOS 27, but not on iPhone or iPad. The company says it is continuing to work with regulators but currently has no timeline for bringing Siri AI to iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 in the European Union.
