Apple reportedly planning OLED iPad Air for next year

Apple is reportedly planning to bring an OLED display to the iPad Air next year.

According to Korean publication ET News, Samsung Display is expected to begin mass production of OLED panels around the end of 2026 or early next year, with the screens set to be used in Apple’s next iPad Air.

The report claims Apple is aiming to release the updated iPad Air in early 2027.

Apple last refreshed the iPad Air in March this year, adding the M4 chip but keeping the same Liquid Retina LCD display technology used in previous models.

By contrast, Apple’s iPad Pro lineup already uses OLED displays, offering deeper blacks, improved contrast, better color accuracy, and more vibrant visuals.

If Apple does bring OLED to the iPad Air, it would narrow the gap between the Air and Pro models, while still allowing Apple to reserve higher-end features such as ProMotion and more advanced chips for the iPad Pro lineup.
