‘iPhone Ultra’ tipped as likely name for Apple’s foldable iPhone

Apple’s first foldable iPhone may be called the “iPhone Ultra” rather than the “iPhone Fold,” according to a new rumor.
Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, via 9to5Mac, says sources suggest Apple is leaning toward the Ultra branding for its first foldable device.
“Rumor has it that Apple’s wide-format foldable device will be named the ‘iPhone Ultra,’” the leaker said.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is widely expected to feature a book-style design, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup rather than a flip-style device.
Recent rumors have largely aligned around a larger inward-folding display, with reports suggesting the device could feature an internal display measuring around 7.8 inches, alongside an external display between 5.3 and 5.5 inches.
Apple is also believed to be focusing heavily on reducing the crease in the inner display. Some reports claim the crease could be almost invisible, while others suggest Apple may simply be aiming to make it less noticeable than rival foldable phones.
The foldable iPhone is also expected to be extremely thin, with rumors suggesting it could measure around 4.5mm to 4.8mm when unfolded, and around 9mm to 9.5mm when folded shut.
Because of the limited internal space, several reports have suggested Apple may use Touch ID built into the power button instead of Face ID.
Camera expectations are relatively modest, with most rumors pointing to a dual-camera setup on the rear, alongside front-facing cameras that work in both folded and unfolded modes.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is currently expected to launch in late 2026, with most reports pointing to a release between September and December.
