Apple’s new MacBook Neo comes in two configurations, giving the choice between a lower-cost model without Touch ID and a slightly more expensive version that includes the fingerprint sensor.
The base MacBook Neo starts at $599 and includes 256GB of storage. This model features the standard Magic Keyboard but does not include Touch ID, meaning users will need to enter their password to unlock the Mac or approve purchases.
Apple also offers a higher-tier version of MacBook Neo priced at $699. This configuration increases storage to 512GB and adds Touch ID to the keyboard. With Touch ID, users can unlock their Mac, sign in to apps and websites, and approve Apple Pay purchases using their fingerprint.
Unlike other Macs, Touch ID is not available as a standalone upgrade on the entry-level model. Instead, it is bundled with the higher storage tier, meaning buyers who want the fingerprint sensor must also move up to the 512GB configuration.
Apple is positioning MacBook Neo as its most affordable MacBook ever, starting at $599, with the upgraded Touch ID model offering additional storage and convenience for $100 more. The machine features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, runs on Apple’s A18 Pro chip, and delivers up to 16 hours of battery life.
MacBook Neo is available to pre-order now, with the first deliveries and in-store availability beginning March 11.
