Apple highlights upgraded Center Stage camera in new iPhone 17 advert

Apple is promoting the improved Center Stage front camera on its iPhone 17 lineup in a new advert titled Smart Group Selfies.

The advert demonstrates how the front-facing camera on the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro can automatically widen and rotate the frame as more people step into a selfie.

This allows users to fit everyone into the shot without having to physically rotate the phone.

When Apple first introduced the feature, it said users would no longer need to switch their iPhone into landscape mode to take wider selfies.

Instead, photos and videos can be captured in either portrait or landscape while holding the device vertically, helping users maintain a more natural grip and centred view.

For group shots, Center Stage uses AI to expand the field of view and automatically adjust orientation to ensure everyone remains in frame.
