iOS 27 could introduce ChatGPT-style Siri chatbot, report says

Apple is reportedly developing a ChatGPT-style chatbot for a future version of iOS, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said Apple is testing a significantly upgraded version of Siri that behaves more like a conversational AI assistant.
The chatbot is said to be designed as a standalone experience, but will be built directly into Apple’s software rather than offered as a separate app.
Apple is reportedly basing the system on a custom model derived from Google’s Gemini technology.
The upgraded Siri would be capable of searching the web, generating images, helping with coding tasks, summarising information and analysing uploaded files.
It is also expected to use personal data stored on a device to complete tasks more intelligently, while being able to view on-screen content and adjust system settings.
Gurman says Apple is aiming to unveil the new Siri chatbot at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, alongside the first preview of iOS 27.
Testing of the new software is expected to begin shortly after the announcement.
