New iPad to feature iPhone 17’s A19 chip, leak suggests

Apple’s next base iPad could be powered by the same A19 chip used in the iPhone 17, according to a new leak.
The report cites an internal Apple code document detailing the company’s 2026 iPad lineup.
Macworld says the move would see Apple use its latest-generation chip in its entry-level iPad for the first time.
Apple’s current base model, the iPad 11, was released in March 2025 and uses the A16 chip, which first appeared in the iPhone 14 in 2022.
Previous base iPads have typically used older processors.
The iPad 10 launched in 2022 with the A14 chip, while the iPad 9 and iPad 8 used the A13 and A12 chips respectively.
An A19-powered iPad would mark a shift in strategy, bringing flagship performance to Apple’s most affordable tablet.
Apple is expected to launch new iPad and iPad Air models in early 2026.
