Apple Music adds WWDC25 ‘Summer Sounds’ playlist

Ahead of WWDC25 next week, Apple Music has dropped a curated “Summer Sounds” playlist featuring tracks from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX, Benson Boone and more. “Get ready for the biggest Apple developer event of the year with a fresh set of summer vibes,” Apple said in promoting the new collection.
WWDC25 officially begins on Monday, June 9, when Apple will host its annual keynote—offering a “first look at the groundbreaking updates” coming to its operating systems. Sources suggest that Apple plans to simplify its naming conventions by skipping several version numbers and aligning each OS with the year 2026. Under this scheme, iOS 26 would replace the expected iOS 19, macOS 26 would take over from macOS 16, iPadOS 26 would succeed iPadOS 19, and watchOS 26 would leap ahead of watchOS 12. Meanwhile, tvOS 26 would follow tvOS 19, and visionOS 26 would jump from visionOS 3.
Unlike the past couple of years—when Apple unveiled the Vision Pro headset in 2023 and Apple Intelligence in 2024—WWDC25 appears more restrained. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that “there are no major new devices ready to ship,” indicating that Apple may not have any headline-grabbing hardware or blockbuster software announcements on par with previous conferences.
That said, rumors point to a visionOS-inspired redesign that could touch every major operating system. Still, some Apple employees worry that, from an AI standpoint, WWDC25 may feel underwhelming as competitors roll out new machine-learning features of their own.
