MacBook Air with M2 and M3 updated with 16GB unified memory as standard

Apple has quietly updated the MacBook Air with M2 and M3, upgrading the machines with 16GB unified memory, up from 8GB previously, as standard, with the machines continuing to be sold at their original starting price.
Alongside the announcement of the new M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max versions of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro on Wednesday, Apple said “MacBook Air is the world’s most popular laptop, and with Apple Intelligence, it’s even better. Now, models with M2 and M3 double the starting memory to 16GB, while keeping the starting price at just $999 — a terrific value for the world’s best-selling laptop.”
Apple’s 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models were first unveiled in 2023, which was to 60 percent faster than the previous generation M1 model and up to 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air. The machines also introduced new capabilities, including support for up to two external displays and up to 2x faster Wi-Fi than the previous generation.
Asides from upping the RAM, the updated M2 and M3 MacBook Air models don’t feature any other differences over the original models.
Apple continues to sell the M3 model at $1,099, and the M2 model at $999.
