Apple on track to release new AirPods later this year, Gurman reports

Apple is planning to refresh its entry-level and mid-tier AirPods later this year, according to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. As shared in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman confirms that Apple is preparing to release two new versions of AirPods, each at different price points, effectively replacing the current second-generation and third-generation models.
The upcoming models are expected to feature a fresh design, including the adoption of a USB-C port, moving away from the traditional Lightning port. The design will also incorporate shorter stems, similar to those found on the AirPods Pro, alongside an updated fit and improvements in audio quality.
One of the most significant upgrades will be the inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) in the higher-end version. This marks a notable shift, as ANC, previously exclusive to the AirPods Pro, will now be available at a more accessible price point.
Gurman also mentioned that Apple plans to release a third-generation AirPods Pro “later,” which likely points to a 2024 launch based on his previous reports.
However, in this latest update, Gurman did not provide any new information regarding the status of the AirPods Max.
