M4 MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac expected to be announced later this year
Apple is set to update its MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac lines with the latest M4 chip later this year, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. This follows the launch of the M4 iPad Pro in May, marking the next phase in Apple’s transition to the new Apple silicon processor generation. The updates will continue with the MacBook Air, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio in 2025.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman notes that while the M4 overhaul is primarily focused on enhancing performance, particularly with the M4 processor’s advanced neural engine for AI tasks, there is at least one Mac model expected to see more significant changes. Apple has stated that the ultra-thin 2024 iPad Pro represents its new design philosophy, aiming to offer “the thinnest and lightest products” in each category. Previously, Gurman reported that Apple is working on a thinner version of the MacBook Pro.
It remains unclear whether these dramatic changes will involve new design elements or the addition of features like Face ID. “Stay tuned,” Gurman added.
