iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and visionOS 3 development underway, with codenames ‘Luck’, ‘Cheer’, ‘Nepali’, and ‘Discovery’

Apple is actively developing iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and visionOS 3 updates slated for 2025, according to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In his recent “Power On” newsletter, Gurman disclosed that Apple has formally kicked off the development process for its major operating system updates scheduled for 2025, identified internally with codenames like “Luck” for iOS 19, “Cheer” for macOS 16, “Nepali” for watchOS 12, and “Discovery” for visionOS 3.
Despite iOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 not yet being released to the public, this early start is typical for Apple as its teams look ahead and lay the groundwork for new features in the updates.
In his newsletter, Gurman also highlighted expectations that the Vision Pro headset could integrate Apple Intelligence as soon as next year, potentially aligning with enhancements in visionOS 3.
