Apple has announced its plan to launch a dedicated Passwords app later this year alongside the release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This app aims to streamline access to credentials by securely storing passwords, verification codes, and security alerts in one easily accessible location.
Previously, passwords were tucked away within the Settings app, making it cumbersome to retrieve them, especially when multitasking. With the upcoming Passwords app, Apple seeks to simplify this process, providing users with convenient access to passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi credentials, and more, all within a single platform.
Moreover, the app will feature alerts to notify users of common security vulnerabilities, such as easily guessed passwords or those reused across multiple accounts, as well as passwords associated with known data breaches.
