Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models are set to feature the thinnest bezels of any smartphone, surpassing even the latest iPhone 15 Pro devices. This information comes from the reliable leaker “Ice Universe,” who has previously provided accurate details about Apple’s plans.
Despite minimal design changes, the iPhone 16 Pro models will see an increase in size. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to grow to 6.3 inches from 6.1 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will expand to 6.9 inches from 6.7 inches, potentially making it Apple’s largest iPhone to date.
However, Apple is not just relying on larger screens for an enhanced viewing experience. According to Ice Universe, the new Pro models will also feature significantly thinner bezels, potentially the slimmest ever seen on any smartphone, including the Samsung Galaxy S24.
This advancement may be attributed to Apple’s rumored use of Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology, which allows for a more efficient layout of the circuitry under the display, leading to slimmer bezels. While Ice Universe did not mention BRS, other rumors from Asia have linked this technology to the iPhone 16 models. Last year, Apple used low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) to reduce the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro models to 1.5 millimeters, down from around 2.2 millimeters on the iPhone 14 models. Since the introduction of the iPhone 12 in 2020, Apple hasn’t significantly changed iPhone screen sizes, but this trend appears to be shifting with the 2024 iPhone 16 Pro models.
