Tap to Pay on iPhone now available in Italy

Apple has expanded the availability of Tap to Pay on iPhone, a feature which theoretically turns the iPhone into a payment terminal, with businesses able to accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap of their iPhone, to users in Italy.
Apple announced its new Tap to Pay on iPhone feature in February 2022. The feature has since rolled out to users in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the U.K., Ukraine and Canada, allowing businesses to securely accept contactless payments, using only an iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app.
Adyen, myPOS, Nexi, Revolut, Stripe, SumUp and Viva are the first payment platforms to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to Italian merchants their customers, and will soon also be available with Fabrick, Numia, and Sella. As of today, Tap to Pay on iPhone is also available in all Italian Apple Stores.
When a business presents their iPhone to a customer for a contactless payment, the customer’s payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. No additional hardware is needed to accept contactless payments through Tap to Pay on iPhone, so businesses can accept payments from wherever they do business.
Apple launched Tap to Pay on iPhone in Canada last week.
