‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ now available in Canada
Apple has expanded the availability of Tap to Pay on iPhone, a feature which theoretically turns the iPhone into a payment terminal, with businesses able to accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap of their iPhone, to users in Canada.
Apple announced its new Tap to Pay on iPhone feature in February 2022. The feature has since rolled out to users in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the U.K., and Ukraine, allowing businesses to securely accept contactless payments, using only an iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app.
Tap to Pay on iPhone is available through Adyen, Moneris, Stripe, and Square in the country. In the coming months, Apple touts that Aurus; Chase Payment Solutions, a part of J.P. Morgan Payments; Fiserv; and Helcim will enable Tap to Pay on iPhone for customers in Canada.
When a business presents their iPhone to a customer for a contactless payment, the customer’s payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. No additional hardware is needed to accept contactless payments through Tap to Pay on iPhone, so businesses can accept payments from wherever they do business
