Apple to announce new iPads and Macs through videos, no special event planned

Apple isn’t planning to hold a special event this month to unveil new iPads and Macs, with the iPhone maker instead planning to reveal the rumored new devices on its website with a “series of online videos and marketing campaigns,” reports Bloomberg.

In typical fashion, rumors have pointed to Apple choosing the month of March to announce new hardware, with several reports claiming that at lease two new iPad models, a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro, a new Apple Pencil and a new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip is being prepared for an imminent launch.

Speaking in his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said that “Apple has a lot of new hardware in store for release in the next several weeks. That includes revamped iPad Pro models and an updated iPad Air that adds a 12.9-inch screen option, as well as fresh Apple Pencils and Magic Keyboards for the high-end iPads.”

“On the Mac front, there are 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs coming with the speedier M3 chip. All of these new products are in production overseas, and Apple’s marketing teams are preparing to announce them relatively soon,” he said.

“But it doesn’t appear that such an event is coming. Apple is instead planning to announce the new products on its website with a series of online videos and marketing campaigns. When will all this happen? Well, I’m told that a special version of iOS 17.4 with support for the new hardware is scheduled for the end of the month. So I’d expect the devices to arrive sometime in March or April. After that, all attention will turn to the Worldwide Developers Conference, where Apple will showcase its generative AI advances.”
