As expected, Apple has discontinued its range of genuine leather accessories for the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirTag, with the Cupertino company introducing a new FineWoven material made from 68 per cent post-consumer recycled content, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared with leather.
Apple’s line of FineWoven accessories, which are available to order now through the online Apple Store, have a new soft, suedelike feel made from micro-twill. Micro-twill is a type of fabric weave commonly used in the textile industry. It is characterized by its fine, diagonal rib pattern created by the weaving process.
Micro-twill fabrics are known for their durability and resistance to wrinkles. The term “micro” in micro-twill refers to the small and closely spaced diagonal ribs or ridges that are a prominent feature of this weave. These fine ridges give micro-twill fabrics a smooth and sleek appearance.
