Apple rumored to launch new iPad Air ‘soonish’

Apple is rumored to be preparing a new iPad Air for launch “soonish,” according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
Speaking about the device during an appearance on the MacRumors podcast, where he also discussed Apple’s plans to introduce new USB-C versions of its accessories beginning this week with the launch of the iPhone 15, Gurman said “There is a new iPad Air — minor spec bump — in development, which I think is coming soonish,” hinting at a launch in October, the month Apple typically unveils new iPad models.
Although a new model is preparing to launch, Gurman suggests that Apple may not hold a special event to announce the new device. “There will be another launch in October,” he explained. But he’s “not sure it’s an event,” as he isn’t convinced the company will have enough to “drag people down to Cupertino.”

Should Apple unveil a new iPad Air later this year, it is believed that it will be the only iPad model that will be refreshed before 2024, with Gurman saying that he believes the iPhone maker will unveil its first major upgrade to its iPad Pro lineup in several years, with all-new M3 models featuring new, larger OLED displays and an accompanying new Magic Keyboard.
