Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to bring substantial upgrades over the current-generation iPhone 14 series, although for the first time, Apple is rumored to make one of its most exciting new features exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are both slated to feature an upgraded design with a new, lighter and stronger chassis, improved battery performance, an all-new dark blue color option, thinner bezels, Apple’s new A17 Bionic chip, and support for USB-C, dropping the proprietary Lightning connector for greater accessory connectivity.

Apple is expected to make the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max more expensive, with a price increase of around $100 per model expected.

What will be new with the iPhone 15 Pro?

This year, Apple is expected to introduce an all-new periscope camera to the iPhone 15 lineup, although rumors suggest the new periscope lens will be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Both models are rumored to have a titanium chassis, more power-efficient OLED displays, a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port, allowing USB-C chargers to work with the iPhone for the first time, and a new programable Action button, which will replace the fixed ring/silent mute switch on current iPhone models.

Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rumored to use new stacked battery technology, where multiple battery cells are stacked on top of each other to increase the overall energy density and capacity of the battery, offering longer periods between charges and a longer lifespan.

Apple is expected to introduce a new A17 Bionic chip with the iPhone 15 Pro series with an upgraded Ultrawide Band chip, likely for better connectivity with the new mixed-reality Apple Vision Pro headset. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to offer increased RAM. The iPhone 15 Pro series will also most likely upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E.

What will the iPhone 15 Pro look like?

Rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro will feature an updated design with thinner, curved bezels and a new titanium chassis. Apple is expected to remove the ring/silent mute switch on the iPhone and replace it with an all-new Action button, similar to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will stay the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro series, measuring in at 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches, respectively.

The Action button will allow users to program the button to turn on the flashlight, turn on low power mode, capture a photo, and more.

With the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max expected to transition from the proprietary Lightning connector to USB-C, the devices will see a change in charging port to support USB-C chargers. Because of the new telephoto lens rumored to come to the larger 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max, the camera array is expected to be larger than previous models.

So far, rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro will be available in Silver, Space Black, Gold, and a new dark blue color.

How much will the iPhone 15 Pro Max cost?

The new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could be Apple’s most expensive iPhone models ever. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1099. A price increase of at least $100 could be applied to this year’s lineup, with the iPhone 15 Pro starting at $1099, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at $1199.

When will the iPhone 15 Pro come out?

Apple typically releases new iPhone models in September, however, reports claim that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could face ‘severe shortages’ at launch, which could mean the release of the models could be pushed back to October.

Despite the potential release delay, it is likely Apple will unveil the new iPhone 15 Pro series alongside the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and next-generation Apple Watch lineup at a special event in September, which will most likely be pre-recorded apposed to Apple’s pre-pandemic in-person keynotes.
