iPhone 18 Pro cases may also fit iPhone 17 Pro, according to packaging detail

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could be almost identical in size to the current iPhone 17 Pro, with new case packaging suggesting that accessories may work across both generations.

As shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on X, OtterBox is already selling iPhone 18 Pro cases through Best Buy, weeks before Apple is expected to announce the device. More interestingly, the packaging reportedly indicates that the iPhone 18 Pro will fit iPhone 17 Pro cases, and that iPhone 17 Pro models will also fit iPhone 18 Pro cases.

If accurate, the detail suggests Apple is not planning major external changes for the iPhone 18 Pro. For a case to work across both models, the two devices would likely need to have very similar dimensions, button placement, camera positioning, MagSafe alignment, and cutouts for features such as Camera Control.

The leak lines up with recent rumors claiming the iPhone 18 Pro lineup will largely retain the same overall design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, with display sizes also expected to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

That does not mean the iPhone 18 Pro will be a minor update overall. Apple is still rumored to be planning several internal and camera upgrades, including an A20 Pro chip built using TSMC’s first-generation 2nm process, camera improvements, and possible changes to the Dynamic Island.

However, the OtterBox packaging suggests that Apple may be keeping the physical design largely familiar, at least for the smaller Pro model. That could be good news for iPhone 17 Pro owners planning to upgrade, as some existing cases may continue to work with the new device.
