Dynamic Island coming to all four iPhone 15 models, multiple reports suggest

Apple is expected to bring the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro to all four iPhone 15 models this year, making the feature available for the first time not just on the ‘Pro’ series models, according to multiple rumors and reports.

Apple introduced the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which replaced the notch found on previous iPhone models. The island, located around the pill-shaped cut-out at the top of the iPhone’s display, blends and adapts in real-time to show alerts, notifications, and activities, turning the cut-out into part of the core iPhone experience.

The Dynamic Island is exclusive to the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, although according to reports, all four iPhone 15 models will likely include the feature beginning this year, with respected reporter Mark Gurman claiming last month that Apple was intending to expand the island to all four iPhone 15 models in fall, and new leaked iPhone 15 CAD models suggesting that the Dynamic Island will be available for the first time not just on the ‘Pro’ series devices.

The Dynamic Island always remains at the top of the iPhone’s display. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.

Dynamic Island support is built into core iOS features. For example, when connecting AirPods to the iPhone 14 Pro, the Dynamic Island will morph from its fixed state and show that the earbuds have been connected, when on a FaceTime Audio call, the Dynamic Island will change its appearance to represent a call UI, and when setting a timer, the Dynamic Island will again change its appearance to show different information on-screen.
